The Blue Djinn of Babylon

Summary: The Blue Djinn of Babylon is about two twins named John and Phillipa Gaunt. Phillipa gets captured by Ayesha and John is trying to find and rescue Phillipa from the dreadful place where The Blue Djinn of Babylon, Ayesha lives. Ayesha captured Phillipa so that she could take Ayesha’s place when she dies.
This is when John comes and rescues his sister. That’s when they learned that who Ayesha really wanted to take her place of was the John and Phillipa’s mother (Ayesha’s Daughter), Layla Gaunt. Read The Blue Djinn of Babylon to find out more.

Recommendation: I rate this book five stars on a five star rating because it has a lot of adventure of mystery. It almost feels like your in the book.

Summary: Akhenaten Adventure is about two twins, John and Phillipa Gaunt who are told that they both are no ordinary children. They are djinn, genies.
When they heard this astonishing news, they were shocked, like anyone else would be, but their mother explained to them that she was djinn, too, but their father wasn’t. This leads them to a exciting adventure with their djinn uncle. Read “Akhenaten Adventure” to find out what happens to John and Phillipa.

Recommendation: I rate this book five stars on a five star rating because it is funny and unique.

The Name of this Book is Secret

Summary: The Name of the Book is Secret is about 2 kids named Cass and Max-Ernest (a boy who loves logic) who go to the Midnight Sun and Spa (which is not a spa) to get the symphony of smells and Benjamin Blank back.  The symphony of smells is a box filled with different vials that have different smells.  Cass goes to the Midnight Sun first and disguises herself.  They accidentally stumble upon a mystery surrounding a dead magician’s diary and the hunt for clues.

Recommendation: This is a good book for 4~5th graders because the vocabulary is a little challenging, but it is a fabulous book.

Midnight for Charlie Bone

Summary~  The book Midnight for Charlie Bone is the first one in the Charlie Bone series. This book is about a boy named Charlie Bone. He finds out that he has special powers. In fact, he can hear what people are thinking in photos. Charlie goes to Bloors Academy. It is a school for people that have special powers. There, he has many adventures. You need to read the book to find out what happens to Charlie and his friends.

Recommendation:  I gave this book a rating of three and a half stars out of five. It was kind of confusing in some parts and it could have been funnier. The parts I did like were when Charlie got sent to Bloors Academy and how he always gets in detention there.

Encyclopedia Brown the Case of the Midnight Visitor

Summary-The Case of the Midnight Visitor is about a boy named Encyclopedia who solves mysteries in a flash. In the book he solves a mystery about a man who got kidnapped by a guy and told the man’s wife to pay the kidnapper a ransom. How did the kidnapper capture the man? To find out this and how how the mystery gets solved you’ll need to read the book.

Recommendation- I recommend this book for third and fourth graders who are in the mood for a fun, easy book. I rate this book four out of five stars because the characters could have been more interesting. I hope you read this book and enjoy it too.

The Puzzling World of Winston Breen

Summary: In the book Puzzling World of Winston Breen, a boy named  Winston buys a gift box for his sister and it has a false bottom.  It turns out that there are 4 strips of wood inside.  3 other people have the strips of wood and they all get together and solve puzzles.  Later on in the book, they found that the answer to the puzzle is a ring, but you’ll have to read the book to find out more and learn about all of the fun puzzles.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book for people who like to solve puzzles.  This book is good for 4~5th graders.

Recommendation – I recommend this book 5 out of 5 stars because it has a lot of action.  I rate it for 4th grade-5th grade.  This action-packed story by Eric Berlin is a daring one yet!

Summary – In the book  Chasing Vermeer  a valuable Vermeer painting disappears from a museum. Before Petra and Calder know it, they find themselves at the center of an international art scandal. Petra and Calder are drawn clue by clue into a mystery. Can they solve a crime that has stumped even the FBI? Read the book to find out.

Recommendation: I rate this book 4 1/2 stars because it was a fabulous book, but not the best book I have ever read.

Point Blank

Summary – The Alex Rider series is about Alex Rider, a fourteen year old spy. In Point Blank, his uncle had worked for MI6, Britain’s spy service, until he was murdered by a contract killer named Yassen Gregorovitch. Once Alex learned this, MI6 recruited him. Point Blank tells about Alex’s second mission. Alex has been sent to an academy for rebellious kids, called Point Blanc, because MI6 was suspicious of the owner, Dr. Grief. Will Alex succeed, and stop Dr. Grief’s evil plot, or will Alex fail, and die? Read this book to find out if he fails or succeeds!

Recommendation – I’d recommend this book for fourth through tenth graders because even though this book was really cool, it was pretty violent. I would rate this book four out of five stars because this book was really cool. I love the series!
