Summary- The Odyssey is about a man named Odysseus. He is trying to get home, but Poseidon is angry with Odysseus. When Odysseus sails, Poseidon controls the currents to put the ship off course, so Odysseus has to fight his way through to get home. Does he get home? Does he even get out alive? Read this book to come in to a whole new world of mythology.
Rating- I rate this book 5 stars because it was a very action packed and interesting. Homer included a lot of creative obstacles. It was an entertaining piece of Greek mythology that everyone should read.

Summary-The Red Pyramid is a Book about Sadie and Carter Kane. They are trying to get their father back because their father got taken by the God set . The God Osiris is controlling their dad’s mind. Will their dad come back? To figure this out they need to learn about their history, how to do magic and their natural powers. They get help along the way by characters that they think they know about. However, they find they only know a little bit about them.
Recommendation – I rate this book four stars because it explains the Red Pyramid very well and has a balance in facts. The reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is because the book was very complicated. I rate this book for a fifth or sixth grader because of this.

Summary: Fablehaven is the first book in a series about the adventures of Seth and Kendra, two completely ordinary siblings. In this book they are introduced to Fablehaven, a sanctuary for mythical creatures. As the back cover says: Exciting? Yup. Magical? You bet. Safe? Well actually, quite the opposite… When a witch by the name of Muriel purposely frees and unleashes the power of the evil demon Bahumat, chaos reigns.
Will Kendra defeat the dark demon or will Fablehaven be destroyed? Read this amazing book and find out!
Recommendation: I rate this book 5 stars because it has suspense, magic, and funny events. It’s great for someone who likes a book with magic, transformation, fun and wit sprinkled in. I think it is suitable for a 4th grader who likes reading a lot (Like me!).

Summary- In The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson is a 12 year-old boy who thinks he is just a dyslexic, disobedient, and underachieving student. In fact by the end of this book, he discovers that he is a demigod and the son of Poseidon. He also saves the world from a war between the Gods involving Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades by returning a lightning bolt that has been stolen from Zeus, the rightful owner.
Recommendation- I would give “The Lightning Thief” a five star rating out of a five star scale because it had a complicated but interesting plot, and was a page turner that I didn’t want to stop reading. I found it interesting how the author mixed the Greek mythology with modern day life and I think you will to. I would recommend this book to 4th through 7th grade because of its complicated plot and because of some relatively difficult vocabulary.
